Bronze IMPACT!

Bronze IMPACT!

14th December, 2020

We are absolutely delighted to have to have a won a Bronze Award for 'Community Show of the Year' in the 2020 Community Radio Awards with our show - "IMPACT!", made in collaboration with Leigh Chambers & Cambridge 105 Radio

It was one of several brilliant outcomes from our National Lottery Heritage Funded project, IMPACT! Brain Injuries and WWI, which was carried out by the Headway Cambridgeshire Research Group.  In the show, the group interviewed experts on various topics relating to brain injury, WWI and Cambridgeshire (listen here.)

Sophie, who facilitated the Research Group said:

"Winning a Bronze Award means so much to the Research Group as we wanted to prove that brain injury isn't a barrier to achieving great things!
We want to say a huge thank you to Leigh Chambers at Cambridge 105 for giving us interviewing training and producing the show and to all our interviewees on the show; Prof. Barbara Wilson, Dr Sean Lang, Dr Sarah Baylis, Jo Costin and our very own Dr. Sharon Buckland.
This project produced fantastic outcomes including a film, a performance, a booklet, bus posters as well as this radio show! We couldn't have done the project without funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the wonderful collaboration from local community partners including Claire Adler, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge 105, Coleridge Community College, Netherhall School and The Mumford Theatre  - we loved working with each and every one of you and hope to do so again in the future."

The Hospital Brain Injury Co-ordinator became someone who absolutely understood how I felt, I didn’t need to explain. I could talk about my fears and worries. She was such a great support through the difficult days, but could also celebrate the small step successes, which was important to me.
