Welcome to the Headway Cambridgeshire ‘For You, About You’ workshop calendar 2013.
Below you will find information about workshops we will be running throughout the year for you, the family and friends of those who have had a brain injury, in order to provide you with additional support and information in your caring role, as well as an opportunity to meet up with other family members.Futher information and booking forms will be sent out for each workshop nearer the time.
Spaces will be limited on the workshops so it will be on a first come first served basis.
Whilst there will be an opportunity to share personal stories, these workshops cannot provide specific medical or rehabilitation advice about individual cases.

WORKSHOP: UNDERSTANDING BRAIN INJURY

Date: Thursday 18 July 2013
Time: 10.00 am – 2.00 pm
Location: Meeting Room 1, Huntingdon Library, Princes Street, Huntingdon, PE29 3PA
Information: An opportunity to explore the effects of brain injury and to learn strategies which may help you on a day to day basis.
There will also be an opportunity to discuss matters with others on the course and ask questions.

WORKSHOP: STRESS & ANXIETY

Date: Thursday 8 August 2013
Time: 1.00 pm – 4.00 pm
Location: Headway Cambridgeshire at Eagle Wood, Bretton Way, Peterborough, PE3 8DE (satnav PE3 8DD)
Information: An opportunity to look at what causes the feelings of stress and anxiety, how they make us feel and the ways in which we can manage them.
The focus will be on stress and anxiety experienced by you, rather than those who have a brain injury; though some strategies may be used by all.

WORKSHOP: WELFARE BENEFITS

Date: Thursday 29 August 2013
Time: 10.00 am – 1.00 pm

Information: Providing an overview of the benefits system in order to help you gain a better understanding of what you and the person with a brain injury may be entitled to.
Particular attention will be paid to Employment and Support Allowance, Personal Independence Payment (the replacement for Disability Living Allowance) and Carers Allowance.

Information: A workshop for friends and relatives of people who have acquired a brain injury in the last year.
This workshop will involve some basic information about the brain and discussions about common effects of brain injury and the longer term brain injury journey.
