Making Headway

This year, Headway Cambridgeshire is travelling back in time! We’re looking at the making of Headway Cambridgeshire - all the way back to when we were founded in 1989 and beyond!

We’re collecting a living history of people living with brain injuries. Along the way, we’ll be capturing the role that our organisation has played in supporting people with brain injuries, and looking how support for people with brain injuries has changed over time. We’ll also be looking at the wider context of how the village of Fulbourn and the wife of a Cambridge don have been central to the health and social care of local people in Cambridgeshire since the late 19th Century. And there’s plenty of ways that you can get involved!

Our Project

Our project is looking to answer three questions:

  • How has health and social care changed in Cambridgeshire since the late 1800’s?
  • What implications has this had for brain injury care?
  • How are the buildings we use and the people associated with them part of that story?
