Understanding Brain Injury
Headway Cambridgeshire's Understanding Brain Injury course is very popular with care workers, managers and social and health care professionals. Many new care sector personnel attend the course as part of their employment induction program. Yet the course remains as valid and vibrant for experienced members of staff looking to learn more about the effects of brain injury.
Designed for:
Anyone who works with people with a brain injury and would like to know more about the effects on the life of a brain injury survivor.
What is the course about:
Participants will learn about the causes of brain injury and the common types of problems that can occur. The training day is delivered by professionals who work with brain injury survivors on a day-to-day basis and so will also look at practical ways to interact with people who have a brain injury.
Aims
At the end of the training day participants will be able to:
- List the most common causes of brain injury
- Understand the common types of problems facing brain injury survivors
- Identify strategies for effective communication with brain injury survivors
- Identify some of the issues facing family and carers of brain injury survivors

Duration
Registration opens at 9.30 am and refreshments will be available. The training day runs from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm including a break for lunch at 12.30 pm.

Course Fee
The course is offered at no cost within the Training and Workforce Development Consortium. However, please note that the Cambridgeshire County Council cancellation fee will be applied as described on the QWDT Courses Application Form. Where applicable, fees will be invoiced by Cambridgeshire County Council after the course.
