Dedicated racing channel ‘At The Races’ invited Top Jockey Hayley Turner to pick a winner for the 2015 Grand National and to nominate a charity if her pick was right. Many Clouds Win A Silver Lining For Headway Cambridgeshire
25-1 outsider Many Clouds ridden by Leighton Aspell won the 2015 Grand National on Saturday 11 April. Many people were not expecting this horse to win after a poor performance at the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March. Owner Trevor Hemmings and trainer Oliver Sherwood believed in the eight year old horse and their faith was rewarded. But this win brings a welcome prize for Headway Cambridgeshire too! Preventing Head Injuries Makes More Sense Than Curing Them
Leading neurosurgeon Richard Nelson has called for compulsory cycle helmets, speed curbs for cars and more help for the elderly in a bid to stem acquired brain injuries. Hi, I am Karen Bevan, the Fundraising Manager for Headway Cambridgeshire. Next month sees a really exciting new venture and challenge for us at Headway Cambridgeshire. Hayley Turner wins award and donates to Headway
Hayley Turner, top female jockey and friend to Headway Cambridgeshire has won a prestigious award and donated her winnings to Headway Cambridgeshire. Hayley won the William Hill Sports Woman of the Year Award in December 2011. What makes this award so special is that the winner is determined by vote. 11,135 racing fans voted for Hayley and the prize was a £1,000 charity bet on the big race at the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. Hayley Turner Racing History Donation
At the beginning of July, Hayley Turner became the first female jockey to win a Group One race outright at the Darley July Cup at Newmarket. She very kindly donated a signed display photo of the racing colours she wore to her historic victory to Headway Cambridgeshire. She invited Headway to auction this item of horse racing memorabilia to raise funds for the charitable work we carry out in support of brain injured adults, their families and carers. Professor John Pickard, Director of the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre at Addenbrooke's Hospital, has become the new Patron of Headway Cambridgeshire.
