Writer and broadcaster Andrew Marr had a stroke in January 2013 and after two months in hospital he returned to work on The Andrew Marr Show in September in 2013.
His experience of brain injury and his continuing rehabilitation have given him an interest in and sympathy with other brain injury survivors and he has kindly agreed to support us by becoming an Ambassador.
"Headway Cambridgeshire is a great local charity that works with brain injured people. It was an honour to visit their hub in Fulbourn and see the fine work they do. It is very difficult for people to find support after their discharge from hospital following a brain injury and Headway Cambridgeshire is the only local charity that provides this. I know from my own experience what a long road it is towards recovery and such places are vital for those who are coping with very changed circumstances."
“ The Hospital Brain Injury Co-ordinator became someone who absolutely understood how I felt, I didn’t need to explain. I could talk about my fears and worries. She was such a great support through the difficult days, but could also celebrate the small step successes, which was important to me. ”
