Newmarket chef Jamie Mountford appeared on the high profile cooking competition at the end of last year. Although he enjoyed the experience, it was tinged with regret that his late father, who died in February of the same year, did not live to see his television appearance.
Jamie works as a chef at the Bedford Lodge Hotel and Spa, was very close to his father Eric, who suffered a brain injury as a result of a stroke. Eric Mountford received help from his local Headway and now Jamie wants to raise money for Headway Cambridgeshire in recognition of the support his father and family received.
Jamie has organised a pop up restaurant at The Swan In Stow-cum-Quy on the evening of 29th April to raise money for us. The event, which will consist of a five-course optional meal, is sold out. Such has been the response that Jamie is looking at the possibility of arranging another similar event, at a later date.
"I know my father would be pleased that I am helping to ensure that other people will get the same help he did in the future."
“ The Hospital Brain Injury Co-ordinator became someone who absolutely understood how I felt, I didn’t need to explain. I could talk about my fears and worries. She was such a great support through the difficult days, but could also celebrate the small step successes, which was important to me. ”
