Hayley Turner, top female jockey and friend to Headway Cambridgeshire has won a prestigious award and donated her winnings to Headway Cambridgeshire. Hayley won the William Hill Sports Woman of the Year Award in December 2011.
What makes this award so special is that the winner is determined by vote. 11,135 racing fans voted for Hayley and the prize was a £1,000 charity bet on the big race at the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. Hayley placed a £500 each-way bet on Kauto Star, the winner!
Hayley is donating the winnings to Headway Cambridgeshire to help us support brain injured adults across Cambridgeshire. We're all so proud of Hayley for winning this award and very grateful for her continued support. William Hill very kindly added to the donation and we were very grateful to receive a cheque for £3,500.
“ The Hospital Brain Injury Co-ordinator became someone who absolutely understood how I felt, I didn’t need to explain. I could talk about my fears and worries. She was such a great support through the difficult days, but could also celebrate the small step successes, which was important to me. ”
