6th September, 2016
Inspired by rehabilitation work done at Headway Cambridgeshire, Prime Time Fitness Gym in Girton is running a Fitness Triathlon & Open Day of charity fundraising activity.
On Saturday 10 September there will be a series of events and challenges at the gym. People are invited to participate and donate to the charity, which offers rehabilitation and support for people who have suffered a brain injury.
From 9.00 am to 1.00 pm there will be a running programme of taster sessions and the gym’s beauty therapists will also be offering treatments in return for a donation.
Throughout the day there will be an individual and team triathlon event which will consist of a 2km row, 10km cycle and a 5 km run. Free gym memberships are up for grabs as prizes for the top three in each category.
From 7.00 pm in the evening there will be a Pop Quiz and an Auction of Promises and tickets for this event will be £5.
Simon Gurry, Managing Director of the gym says:
“Our main motivation for helping Headway is two- fold: the benefit the charity has given one of our members Roger who has spent many years raising over £75,000 for MacMillan Cancer Care by taking part in various fitness charity events. Whilst cycling in the Alps, Roger suffered a fall and injury to his head - his recovery was aided by the help that Headway provides. My business colleague also works as a nurse in critical care and has also seen the good work that the brain injury charity does.”

“ As a brain injured person it can sometimes be hard to feel positive about your progress but the gym instructor at Headway Cambridgeshire pushes me in the right direction and helps me to feel more enthusiastic about what I am able to achieve and what I might achieve in the future. ”
